Description
The Current is the paddle we wanted when we started playing: one that looks good leaning against the fence, plays like a serious bit of kit, and doesn't cost the price of a weekend away.
The face is raw T700 carbon fibre — unpainted, so the natural texture is left on the surface to bite the ball. That's what gives you honest spin on serves, rolls and third-shot drops, without the gimmicky grit coatings that wear off in a month.
Underneath sits a 16mm polymer honeycomb core. Thicker cores soak up pace, so blocks and resets land soft instead of popping up for your opponent to put away. It's the reason the Current feels calm in fast hands battles at the kitchen line.
The body is thermoformed as a single unibody — the face and edges are heat-moulded together around the core — then the edges are foam-injected. In plain English: a bigger, steadier sweet spot, less twisting on off-centre hits and a solid, quiet feel.
We've kept the weight in the middle of the range, so there's enough mass to drive the ball from the baseline without tiring your arm by the third game. The cushioned grip is sized for most adult hands, with room for an overgrip if you like it chunkier.
And because our courts are outdoors more often than not, we designed it for Australian conditions: a UV-resistant finish, a low-profile edge guard that shrugs off concrete scuffs, and a neoprene cover in the box so it isn't cooking on the back seat.

Care
- Keep it in its cover and out of hot cars — heat is the enemy of every paddle core.
- Wipe the face with a damp microfibre cloth after play to clear dust and ball residue.
- Skip harsh chemicals and abrasive scourers; they'll wear the raw carbon texture.
- Replace or add an overgrip when the handle stops feeling tacky.
- Avoid scraping the edge on concrete when picking up balls.

Yes. The 16mm core and foam-injected edges make it forgiving on off-centre hits, and the mid-weight balance means you're not fighting the paddle while you learn. It's also a paddle you won't outgrow in six months.
Is the Current USA Pickleball approved?
Not at launch. It's designed to sit within the official paddle size limits, but it isn't on the USA Pickleball approved list. For social play, club nights and most local ladders that makes no difference. If you play sanctioned tournaments, check the event's paddle rules first. If the Current is approved in future, we'll say so on this page.
Will the raw carbon texture wear off?
Raw carbon keeps its texture far longer than painted or grit-coated faces because the texture is the carbon itself. Like any paddle, heavy play will smooth it gradually over many months. Keeping it clean and out of the heat helps a lot.
What grip size is it?
The grip is around 11.5cm (4.5in) in circumference, which suits most adult hands. If you prefer a slimmer feel, you can play without an overgrip. If you like it chunkier, add one of ours.
